How to Transfer Music from iPod touch to Computer

Most of us prefer to sync music in iPods to computers. However, once your computer crashes and lost all the data, the saved tracks in iPod would also get deleted. So instead, you should follow the steps below, and transfer music from iPod to computer.

Most of us prefer to store our favorite music tracks in our iPods and computers. What if your computer crashes and you lose all the data in it? That’s where your iPod can come to your survival. However, you should never sync your iPod with your computer in that kind of a situation because the saved tracks in the iPod would also get deleted. Instead, you should transfer music from iPod to computer. Here are the steps that you need to follow in order to transfer music from iPod Touch to computer. 

How to transfer music from your iPod to Mac

First of all, you need to connect the iPod to your Mac and open iTunes. Then you should go to the iPod management screen, scroll down until you see options and then tick on “Enable disk use”. Once you tick on it, you would get a warning, but you should select OK. Now you will be able to see your iPod as a separate drive on the Mac. However, the folder where your music files are stored is still hidden and you need to make it visible through an application called Houdini.

When you complete installing Houdini in your Mac, you need to select “Folders” and browse the specific folder where your music files are stored in the iPod. Then you need to open “iPod Controls”, select “iPod” and click on “Choose”. This will provide you the option to select all the folders that contain music files on your iPod. You just need to copy them and paste on the desired location of your hard drive. 

How to transfer music from iPod to Windows computer

First of all, you have to connect the iPod to your Windows computer via USB and open iTunes. Then you need to scroll down until you see the option “Enable Disk Use” and select it. You will be provided with a warning message when you try to enable disk use and you have to accept it by clicking OK.

Now you will be able to see your iPod as a separate drive on the Windows computer. Next, go to Tools and Folder Options via explorer. When you open Folder Options, you will have to select “Show Hidden Files and Folders” and Apply. This will assist you to view all the files inside your iPod. Usually the folders that contain music files are hidden inside your iPod.

Now you need to select all the folders in your iPod, copy them and paste on your hard drive. It will take a little time for this copy-paste process, based on the number of files that you are transferring.

If you follow this process, you will be able to transfer all the music files from your iPod to the personal computer. As you can see, it is a relatively straightforward process and you will not have to go through any hassle or frustration.
