5 Ways to Fix iPhone Won’t Backup to iCloud (Confirmed Working)

If your iPhone won’t back up to iCloud, not a big deal, try these 5 methods to fix it, which are confirmed working by many users.

Sometimes, you may find that iPhone won’t back up to iCloud, which is an iPhone problem around for a few years. Needlessly, it is important to backup iPhone data to iCloud regularly. If you have enabled iCloud on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, your data is supposed to be backed up to iPhone when connected to Wi-Fi.

However, sometimes, you wake up in the morning you may receive a message saying “The last backup could not be completed.” Or when you manually start a backup, you get the error “iCloud Backup Failed”. Don’t worry, and read on to find a solution here.

Why iPhone Backup Failed

Basically, there are three main reasons that cause iPhone won’t back up to iCloud.

1.       WiFi connection problem. iPhone only backs up to iCloud when WiFi is well connected.

2.       No enough iCloud storage space.

3.       iCloud server problem.

Before you try the following methods, you should first make sure the iCloud Backup is enabled by going to Settings > Your name > iCloud > Backup > iCloud Backup.

Method 1: Check Wi-Fi Connection

As mentioned, you need to make sure that Wi-Fi network is working fine. If possible, change to another Wi-Fi network to see if it works. If not possible, you can reset network settings to solve this issue.

Resetting network settings will reset all the network settings to default and remove all saved WiFi passwords. To reset network settings, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Then enter your passcode to confirm the choice.

Method 2: Free up Some Space on iCloud

Another likely reason is insufficient iCloud storage space. The default iCloud storage is 5 GB. If you create lots of videos and photos, which really takes space, then iCloud storage is not enough.

If you see the “this iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available”, you can either upgrade iCloud storage plan or free up some iCloud space before backing up.

You can delete some files in iCloud. Turn off Photo Library in iCloud and turn on My Photo Steam to protect your photos, which does not consume iCloud storage space. Besides, you can try other ways to backup when iCloud is full.  

Method 3: Fix iCloud Server Error

Corruption or compatibility errors iCloud can also result in iPhone won't back up to icloud. First, you can sign off and sign in iCloud to see if it does the trick. Second, reboot your device. Third, delete the last backup from iCloud by following the steps below.

Step 1. Open the Settings app, tap your name and then select “iCloud.”

Step 2. Select “Storage,” and then tap “Manage Storage.”

Step 3. Select “Backups”, and then select your device if you have use this iCloud account to backup multiple iOS device.

Step 4. Scroll down to tap “Delete Backup.”

If you cannot delete last backup, you can change your user’s name and try these steps again.

Method 4: Backup iPhone to Computer Instead
