How to Fix It If iPhone WiFi Keeps Disconnecting

Force Restart Your iPhone

Sometimes, a possible software glitch can make iPhone disconnect from WiFi frequently. In this case, you might as well try forcing restart your device and check whether things get better.

Force Restart An iPhone 6S, SE, or Earlier

Long press the home and power buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

Force Restart An iPhone 7 or 7Plus

Long press the power button and the volume down button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

Force Restart An iPhone 8 or X

1.       Quick hit the volume up button.

2.       Quick hit the volume down button.

3.       Long press the power button until the Apple logo appears.

4.       Wait for the iPhone to restart.

Enable Auto Join on iPhone

If you can’t connect your iPhone to WiFi, please make sure Auto-join has been enabled on your device.

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap on “i” beside the name of the WiFi you want to connect to and toggle on Auto-Join.


Reset Network Settings

iPhone WiFi keeps disconnecting? Maybe there is something wrong with the network settings on your iPhone. Why not try resetting them all?


Before resetting the network settings, try remembering the passwords of the WiFi you need since all network data will be wiped in the course of the process.

1.       Go to Settings.

2.       Tap on General.

3.       Find Reset at the bottom and tap on it.

4.       Tap on Reset Network Settings and enter your passcode.

5.       Confirm it if you see the notification “This will delete all network settings, returning them to factory defaults”.


Forget and Reconnect to the WiFi

Sometimes, the iPhone WiFi disconnection issue can simply be fixed by resetting the connection.

Go to Settings > WiFi. Tap on the icon “i” and tap on Forget This Network.

Then, reconnect your iPhone to the WiFi and enter the passwords. Check whether the problem still occurs.

Turn off WiFi Networking in System Services

Some people also claim that after turning off WiFi Location Service on iPhone, the network condition gets better.

1.       Tap on Settings.

2.       Tap on Privacy.

3.       Go to System Services.

4.       Toggle off the option of WiFi Networking.


Renew Lease

To renew lease, you can update the address data of the network. You might as well give it a shot if iPhone disconnects from WiFi frequently.

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap on “i” beside the WiFi’s name and tap on Renew Lease.

Now, check whether the WiFi works normally on your device.

Restore Your iPhone

If none of the methods provided above works, you have the last choice – restoring the iPhone. In this way, you can set the device back to factory defaults.


Before doing this, remember to back up the iPhone first in case of data loss.

1.       Connect your iPhone to PC and launch iTunes.

2.       Click on the iPhone icon on the top left.

3.       Choose Restore Backup.

4.       Select a backup in terms of its size and date.

5.       Follow the onscreen guide to finish the process
