Sometimes, this could happen: you have connected your iPhone to computer and nothing, your iPhone just reads disabled. In fact, it’s actually quite common, but many iPhone users are frustrated with this issue. Before we discuss the solutions, let’s figure out the reasons why iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes?

Why iPhone is Disabled?

You got 5 chances to try the passcode before your iPhone is disabled for a specific period of time (1 minute to 1 hour). It means that it won’t be a problem if you got 1 to 5 incorrect passcode attempts.

But if you enter the incorrect passcode in to your iPhone 6 times in a row, your iPhone will be locked out and a message will say that it is disabled, try again in 1 minute.

Your iPhone will be

·         disabled for 5 minutes after 7 failed passcode attempts

·         disabled for 15 minutes after 8 failed passcode attempts

·         disabled for 60 minutes after 9 failed passcode attempts

After 10 times incorrect passcode attempts, your iPhone will be completely disabled. You may see a message says that iPhone is disabled connect to iTunes, or even worse, iPhone screen will turn black and all the data will be erased.

1. iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes

When face this issue, you can connect your iPhone to iTunes and erase it with iTunes. Here are the steps: connect iPhone to computer > open iTunes (wait for iTunes to sync your iPhone) > Restore (if you have backup, then choose “Restore from iTunes backup

2. iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes – use iCloud

·         Go to https://www.icloud.com/find from another iOS device

·         Sign in with your Apple ID, tap “All Devices” at the top and choose your iPhone

3. Put iPhone in Recovery Mode

·         Turn off your iPhone

·         Connect it to computer and open iTunes

·         Force restart it

iPhone 6s or earlier: Press and hold Power button until the Apple logo appears; do not release the Power button, press and hold Home button immediately till screen turns into black; release Power button and keep holding Home button until iTunes detects your iPhone in recovery mode

(iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus users use Volume Down button to replace Home button)

·         Update or restore your iPhone via iTunes
