Apple revealed the latest iOS 10 at WWDC 2016, and now made the public beta version available to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch users. According to Apple, everything users love is now even better with iOS 10, and it is regarded as the biggest release yet.  


Should you upgrade your device to iOS 10? Firstly, you need to check whether your Apple device is compatible with iOS 10.  At present, iOS 10 is available for:


iPhone: iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5

iPad: iPad Pro 12.9-inch, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4th generation and iPad mini 4, 3, 2

iPod: iPod touch 6th generation


In fact, many Apple users have already installed iOS beta on their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Some are quite satisfied with the new iOS, while others cannot get used to it. There are some bugs of iOS 10 reported, such as screen lock issue, memory management issue and etc. If you are very interested in iOS 10, you can choose to upgrade to it, or wait until the official version comes out.


How to Install iOS 10 on iPhone

Before upgrading to iOS 10, you need to backup your iPhone via iCloud or iTunes. So, you can downgrade or restore your iPhone at anytime without losing anything. This backup step is important and quite necessary, do not ignore it.


To get the latest iOS 10 public beta version, you will need to enroll your iPhone to the Apple Beta Software Program by using your Apple ID. Go to beta.apple.com/profile to download the configuration file, and your iPhone will prompt your to install it.


If your iPhone running iOS 8.1.3 or later, it will receive iOS 10 public beta software push automatically over the air. Go to Settings > General > Software Update, you can see the iOS 10 beta update is available, and then download and install it.


The New Features of iOS 10

iOS 10 comes with lots of great new features and improvements. Now, we introduce some highlights of iOS 10 in the following:


Different Unlock Mode

Slide to unlock is gone. With the latest iOS 10, you can press Home button to unlock your iPhone. Instead of hitting Touch ID Home button, now iOS 10 “Raise to Wake” allows you to wake your iPhone just raising it.

Enrich Onscreen Notification

Compared to iOS 9, the onscreen notification of iOS 10 is more interactive and enrich. For example, with 3D Touch shortcut, you enable to respond to these notifications without leaving the lock screen. What’s been added is the button to clear all notification at once, of course, this is for 3D Touch enabled users.

Redesigned Control Center

Also, Control Center has been redesigned and simplified in some way. There are multiple screens available in the Control Center. You can swipe right to music section or swipe left to get a list of customizable widgets.

Remove Preinstalled Apps

In iOS 10, you can finally remove Apple preinstalled apps. However, those apps are not actually deleted from your system. They are just hidden from your view. If you want to get them back, then you have to redownload them on the Apple Store.

Bold New Ways in Message

Message has been added in many new features, such as message bubbles look, own handwriting message, invisible ink, animations that take over the whole screen, tapback, personal touch, stickers and etc.
