If you have, or ever had, one of those sleek looking iPods, then you must be very popular among your friends. The pocket-sized device, available in multiple colors, allows you to download and listen to your favorite songs. But, one problem we all faced with them is, deleting the songs.

Yes, deleting a song from your iPod is the biggest problem one could have. Especially the older models for which you have to connect to your laptop and run the iTunes application for the purpose. The latest iPods, however, have the liberty to delete music directly from your device.

We know that your taste for music changes every day, and for the purpose, you have to delete and download a lot of songs, intermittently. Therefore, we have discussed different methods using which you can delete songs from your iPod, to make space for new ones.

Deleting Songs from iTunes Library

The first method which we will be discussing here is operational for both old and new generation iPods. All you need to do is delete the songs which you don’t like from your iTunes Library and then synchronize your device with your system. This will remove the songs from your iPod as well, making space so that you can download new ones.

The steps involved with the process are further discussed in detail:

·         Run iTunes application

·         Click on the ‘Music Mark’ on the left side of your window

·         Click the ‘My Music’ Option

·         Next thing you need to do is list your music to ‘Songs’ from the options present on the right side of your window

·         Check all the songs you wish to delete

·         Click the ‘Remove Option’ to delete them from your system

·         Connect your iPod to your system and synchronize them. This will change the song list on your iPod as well

This method will permanently delete the music files from your system.

Deleting Music from Older iPod

This method is also for the old generation iPods which don’t allow you to delete music directly from the device. For the purpose, you need to connect your device to your computer and then carry out this process.

·         Connect your iPod to your Computer and run the iTunes application

·         A ‘Device Mark’ will appear on the left of your screen along the music mark. Check it.

·         Click on the ‘Summary Option’; the first option under the settings listed on the left of your screen

·         Then check the ‘Manually Manage Music and Videos’ in the Options

·         An additional screen will pop up showing your playlist. Select the music you wish to remove and delete them from your iPod.

This method will remove songs from your iPod only and keep them in your iTunes Library.

Deleting Songs Directly from your iPod

This method holds true for iPods running on later versions of iOS. All you need to do is:

·         Run the music app and select My Music

·         Tap the songs you want to delete

·         Click on three dots next to song name

·         Click delete and confirm operation to remove the songs

Now, with these methods, you can download, listen and delete the songs anytime you want.
