Convert MP3 to iPhone ringtone by a free MP3 to ringtone online converter is easy. Here we recommend a free ringtone maker: ringtonemaker.com. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Transfer MP3 from iPhone to PC if the MP3 is not on your PC. You can transfer it via email or iPhone transfer software.

Step 2: Click ringtonemaker.com to open the site on PC. Then click UPLOAD FILES to choose the MP3 from your computer. It supports MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, and WMA. 

Step 3: Drag the star and end bar to select the clip duration. You can click Play to listen to it.

Note: The length of the ringtone is usually no more than 30 seconds.

3, Click on the iPhone icon and click Tones from the left sidebar, then click Sync.

Method 2: Convert MP3 to iPhone Ringtone with iTunes

Step 1: Launch iTunes on your PC and connect your iPhone to PC with a USB cable.

Step 2: Add your favorite MP3 to your iTunes library.

Click Songs on the left category and click File, then click Add File to Library. Choose the MP3 from your PC. You need to transfer MP3 from iPhone to PC first.

Step 3: Since the maximum time for ringtones is 30 seconds, we need to edit the MP3 to a clip within 30 seconds.

Right click the MP3, click Song Info. Choose Options and trim the clip duration within 30 seconds.

Step 4: Convert MP3 to AAC version.

Select the MP3 which was edited before, click File on the top left in iTunes homepage then select Convert, continue with Create AAC Version.

Step 5: Rename the clip from M4A format to M4R format.

Because only M4R format is supported by iPhone ringtone, so we need to convert the M4A file into M4R format now.

Right click the edited clip and click Show in Windows Explorer. Then right click the file and choose rename the extension from M4A to M4R.

Step 6: Copy the M4R format file from windows explorer and paste it into iPhone Tones.

Step 7: The M4R file is in your iPhone now. Go to Settings > Sound & Haptics >Ringtone and choose the clip as your ringtone.
