iOS 12 has introduced some new features in Massage app. In this article, I will show you how to add personality to messages on iOS 12 and use iMessage app like a pro.

What’s new with Messages in iOS 12

The biggest feature in Message iOS 12 is the all-new MeMoji, which is far better than the Animoji in iOS 11. MeMoji allows you to create an Animoji that looks just like you. It can match your real face by using the Camera to detect your tongue, wink, etc.

You can also customize the Emoji by choosing skin, hair, eyes, lips, and other elements. Once you create a new Animoji, you can use it in real-time camera effects, animations, and stickers. By the way, before you can use Emoji, you need to enable Emoji keyboard.

Besides that, 4 Animoji characters are added including lion, T-Rex, koala, and ghost. In iOS 12, the recording time of Animoji now increased to 30 seconds. With all that in mind, let see how you can make your messages in iOS 12 stand out.

Use Camera in Messages in iOS 12

While using the Messages app to shoot a picture in iOS 12, you can use all the new effects to edit the photo before sending. The way you use the Camera in Messages has changed. You can follow the steps below to see how it works.

Step 1. Within the Messages app, tap on an existing conversation or start a new conversation.

Step 2. Tap the camera button at the lower left.

Step 5. Tap the Send button to send the photo or video with effects.

If you want to add Animoji or Memoji into the photo that you are about to send, you need to tap the Effects button and add them before you take the photo. If you want to send photos in Camera Roll, there is a Photos app icon right under the message field. Just tap it to select photos or animated GIF that you want to send.

How to Send Messages with Effects

In order to make your messages more expressive, you can add effects to your message.

After you type your message or insert an image, tap and hold the Send button. Then it allows you to preview the Bubble effects.

There are 4 different options including Slam, Loud, Gentle and Invisible Link to the Bubble effects, you can tap on it to preview. If it looks good to you, just tap the Send button to send this message with effects.

What’s more, you can send your handwriting in a message. To do that, you need to turn your iPhone sideways when typing a message and then tap on the keyboard.

How to send audio instead of a text message

Sometimes, it is not convenient to type a long message. In that case, you can send audio recording right in the Messages app. Just tap on the audio recording key on the keyboard to start recording. Then tap it again to stop recording.

Share your location with a tap

When someone is looking for you, you can simply share your location to him or her with a message. Follow the steps below to share your location in the Messages app in iOS 12.
