How to Reset Restrictions Passcode on iPhone iPad

In order to secure your iPhone, you should enable the restrictions passcode on your iPhone and set a four digit PIN that others will not guess. That is easy when needing to change restrictions passcode that works better for you. But if you forgot your restrictions passcode, there is still a chance to reset a forgotten restrictions passcode with iTunes.

Known as built-in Parental Controls in iPhone and iPad, restrictions feature is powerful, it has greatly improved security and privacy of users' devices. Using Restrictions, Apple owners will be able to block certain features of iPhone and iPad, limit the access to specific content, and even prevent other apps on the device from visiting your privacy data, etc.

How to Reset Restrictions Passcode

In order to secure your iPhone, you should enable the restrictions passcode on your iPhone and set a four digit PIN that others will not guess. When needing to change restrictions passcode that works better for you, that is easy if you remember the existing one.

Step 1: Go Settings > General > Restrictions, when tapping on Restrictions, it will ask you to enter the existing passcode. Type the code.

Step 2: Tap on “Disable Restrictions”, this step requires you to enter the existing passcode again.

Step 3: Now you tap on “Enable Restrictions”, enter a new passcode twice. Please make sure you won’t loss the passcode.

How to Recover a Forgotten iPhone Restrictions Passcode in iOS 10

If you forgot your restrictions passcode, it will be a pain in the butt. But no worries, there are ways to reset a forgotten restrictions passcode with iTunes. Restoring iPhone as a new phone will disable the restrictions passcode and reset it to default. It might be a little hard to you, so you are gonna need the step-by-step solutions below.

This method of restoring iPhone as a new phone will not work if “Find My iPhone” is enabled. So first you need to turn off Find My iPhone.

l  Open Settings, tap on your profile.

l  Tap on iCloud, and scroll down to “Find My iPhone”, Switch off the option of “Find My iPhone”.

l  Enter Apple ID Passcode in the pop-up, and choose Turn Off.

Steps to Restore iPhone as New One and Reset the Restrictions Passcode

After backing up iPhone, now let’s start resetting. This is quite easy .

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to computer and open iTunes on computer.

Step 2: Select your device on the up left corner.

Step 3: Click “Restore iPhone” to restore your iPhone as a new one, this also will erase all your data.

After restoring your iPhone successfully, all you need to do is set up your iPhone, and remember manually syncing the content back to your iPhone.
